Yoga & Wellness

My yoga journey started when I was 12 years old, attending my first yoga class with my mother at our community fitness center. I am a skimmer, not a diver. I have practiced and taught anything from chair to vinyasa yoga and I am always growing into “my yoga.” I currently lean towards practices that encourage slowing down and turning inward. Join me for a class that is adaptive, experiential, and upholds the true purpose of yoga: quieting the chatter of the mind.

My path to yoga

Claire began practicing yoga in 2006 to remain active and enjoyed the similar challenges from her days as a gymnast. It was not until her college years that she developed a steady practice and completed the first level of teacher training through YogaFit in 2011. Claire began teaching classes at Butler University’s Health and Recreation Center while completing her Bachelors in Psychology and then at Clemson University’s Fike Recreation Center while obtaining her Masters in Counseling.

In order to deepen her practice and become a more competent teacher and practitioner, Claire completed her 200-Hour Teacher Training in January 2017. With CITYOGA School of Yoga and Health and the guidance of Marsha Pappas, Dave Sims, and Nikki Myers, Claire gained greater insight and knowledge about herself and the true nature of being a yogini.

Since this time, Claire has taught yoga and mindfulness workshops, chair and adaptive yoga, introduction to yoga series, private events, and week-long international retreats.

Claire enjoys the variety of practices and lineages that encompass yoga and does not feel inclined to one version. In classes, the focus is often on gaining awareness of the present moment, taking intentional movement, and svadhyaya (self-study). Claire is dedicated to the practice of yoga in order to navigate the “chatter of the mind” and accept the universality of suffering and enjoys sharing this practice with others.
